Twelve Oaks Recovery Center helps adults age 18 and older who are struggling with substance use and mental health disorders build a strong foundation for long-term wellness by providing flexible intensive outpatient programming. Our expert, compassionate staff is dedicated to providing quality behavioral healthcare for our clients in an atmosphere of trust, honesty, and responsibility.
Intensive Outpatient Programming Overview
At Twelve Oaks, we strive to make our services accessible to all. For this reason, we offer both daytime and evening intensive outpatient programs (IOPs).
In our IOPs, we provide targeted support for substance use disorders and mental health concerns through various therapeutic methods. Depending on their specific needs, clients may work with some of or all the following team members:
- Medical director who oversees client care and program quality
- Nurse practitioners and nursing staff members who provide medical support and monitoring
- Psychiatrist who offers medication management and health evaluations
- Master’s-level mental health counselors and other clinical staff members who facilitate therapy sessions
- Discharge planner who helps clients prepare for life beyond our IOP by connecting them with valuable resources
With the guidance of these professionals, clients can feel empowered to overcome obstacles and make positive strides toward a healthier, more balanced life.
About Our IOP for Addiction
Our IOP for substance use disorders is designed to provide clients with the therapy, education, and support they need to overcome an addiction to drugs or alcohol while allowing them to continue to participate in their regular lives. Our IOP typically involves four hours of therapy each day, three days a week. Clients who participate in our IOP attend group therapy sessions, where they can learn about substance use disorder topics that include managing triggers, relapse prevention, and 12-Step programming.
About Our IOP for Mental Health
Twelve Oaks offers an IOP specifically for those who are struggling with mental health disorders, such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. In our IOP, clients participate in four hours of therapy each day, three days a week. During this time, clients can benefit from personalized treatment methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), experiential therapies, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Group therapy is the foundation of our mental health IOP, covering topics such as conflict resolution, self-esteem, managing stress, communication skills, and anger management.
About Our Evening IOP
At Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, we understand that many individuals who are seeking support for substance use or mental health disorders have commitments that make attending daytime sessions challenging. To accommodate these needs, we offer an evening intensive outpatient program that provides the same comprehensive care and support as our daytime IOP, but with the flexibility of evening hours.
Our evening IOP is designed for individuals who need therapy and support while managing their daily responsibilities. Clients participate in therapy three evenings a week, engaging in evidence-based practices that promote success.
Who Can Benefit from Our IOP
Twelve Oaks Recovery Center’s IOP is ideal for clients who:
- Are in the early stages of a substance use disorder or have a primary mental health disorder
- Do not require inpatient care or are transitioning from a residential program
- Want a more flexible therapy schedule so that they can still attend school or work and fulfill other commitments
- Have achieved stabilization and are seeking ongoing support
What To Expect in Our Intensive Outpatient Programs
The average length of stay in both our daytime and evening IOPs is eight weeks, with therapy sessions held three days each week. The daytime IOP is held from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., while the evening IOP meets from 5-8 p.m.
In both programs, clients can take part in mental health and substance use process groups, as well as educational groups.
Process groups offer a space for clients to share experiences, gain support, and engage in discussions facilitated by clinical staff.
Educational groups are designed to help clients build essential skills through structured learning. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, such as:
- Recovery-focused themes: 12 Steps, Big Book study, relapse prevention, triggers and cravings, and addiction as a brain disease
- Mental wellness: Stress and anger management and emotion regulation
- Interpersonal effectiveness: Communication skills, conflict resolution, and codependence
- Personal growth: Spirituality, self-esteem, and resilience
Clients can also participate in one individual therapy session each week and family therapy as necessary. Additionally, experiential therapies, like guided imagery, art, recreation, and psychodrama, are woven into the therapeutic process to encourage self-expression and foster holistic healing.
The specific therapies a client engages in will depend on the nature and severity of the symptoms they’re struggling with and the presence of any co-occurring concerns. Our professionals take all these concerns into consideration when creating a personalized care plan for each client. This plan may incorporate various evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and Seeking Safety, to help clients achieve their goals and sustain their progress after completing the IOP.
